Feed the Pumpkin Free Printable Counting Activity 1–20
Feed the Pumpkin – Free Printable Counting Activity for Preschool & Kindergarten 🎃
Make counting practice more exciting with this fun Feed the Pumpkin printable activity! Children pick a number card, count the matching number of pumpkin seeds, and “feed” them into the pumpkin’s mouth.
This hands-on fall math activity is perfect for preschool, Pre-K, kindergarten, homeschool, math centers, and Halloween classroom activities. It combines early math practice with cutting, counting, and fine motor skills.
🎃 How to Play Feed the Pumpkin
Print the activity pages on A4 paper or cardstock. Cut out the pumpkin and carefully cut open the mouth where it says “Cut Here.” Attach the pumpkin to the front of a small cardboard box so the seeds can fall inside.
Cut apart the number cards from 1–20 and the pumpkin seed pieces. Ask your child to choose a number card. For example, if the child picks the number 7, they count out seven pumpkin seeds and place them one by one into the pumpkin’s mouth while counting aloud.
Then choose another card and play again!
✂️ What’s Included in the Printable?
The printable pack contains 4 A4 pages:

- Feed the Pumpkin – large pumpkin face with a cut-out mouth
- Number Cards 1–20 – colorful pumpkin number cards
- Pumpkin Seeds – 30 printable seed pieces for counting
- How to Play – simple visual instructions for parents and teachers
🌱 Skills Children Can Practice
This activity helps young learners develop number recognition from 1–20, counting skills, one-to-one correspondence, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and independent learning habits.
Because children physically move each seed while counting, the activity makes numbers more concrete and easier to understand than simply completing a worksheet.
🍂 Perfect for Fall and Halloween Learning
The cheerful pumpkin theme makes this activity especially fun during September, October, fall lessons, pumpkin units, and Halloween week.
It can be used at home, in preschool classrooms, kindergarten math centers, homeschool lessons, or as a quiet learning activity.
For extra durability, print the number cards and seeds on cardstock or laminate them so children can use the game again and again.
